Individual sessions offers a supportive, one-on-one environment where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges. Whether you're seeking personal growth, career direction, or better life balance, coaching offers accountability, insight, and support to help you stay on track and achieve meaningful results.

Using the evidence-based Gottman Method, we focus on practical tools and strategies to help partners manage conflict, enhance intimacy, and build a stronger, more resilient relationship. What can I expect?

Therapy and coaching sessions are typically 50 minutes, but can be tailored to your specific needs/goals

Individual Therapy

o   An overview of approach(es) to therapy + supplemental tools/resources

o   Answer any questions you may have

o   Share and collect info related to your identified areas of focus

o   Start to discuss and develop goals for our work together

Couples/Partnerships/Marriage Therapy

o In couples/marriage counseling ‘the client’ is the relationship itself, making it distinctively different than individual therapy  

o   Using the evidence-based approach, The Gottman Method, clients can expect to focus on strengthening their relationship by improving communication, managing conflict, and deepening emotional connection

o Taking turns— each member of the partnership will be made to feel safe in the therapeutic space, meaning that respect for one another (even in conflict) will remain at all times a priority

o   The First few sessions are often focused on gathering information from the couple including relationship history, the strengths and the challenge areas partner’s identify, and the beginning of collaborating to identify goals and objectives for improvement

Life Coaching Sessions

o   Our coaching approach stems from a growth mentality— identifying goals, brainstorming, planning, acquiring skills necessary to achieve progress, and ultimately defining and achieving your personal concept of success.

Meet Kate Umbriaco

Founder & Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor

With nearly a decade of experience in the Mental Health field, Kate Umbriaco (she/her), provides various services to a wide range of clients. Using a Cognitive-Behavioral approach, Kate collaborates with each client to tailor a plan to meet their specific needs, set goals and objectives, and create a safe space for exploration.

Kate has worked with individuals, couples, and families addressing issues such as anger management, intimacy, interpersonal relationships, addiction/substance use, anxiety, depression and more!

What is Kate working on now?

Kate recently completed Gottman’s (Level 1) Training for couples

Currently, she is working towards offering Clinical Supervision services to pre and partial licensed Mental Health Professionals offering mentorship and guidance as they begin their careers.

Also, She is actively researching/training in nature-based therapies—with intentions of offering workshops in the future!

Life Outside of the Office

When Kate is not working with clients, she is likely spending time with friends and family, hiking with her dog, Arlo, gardening, trying out local restaurants or on occasion singing karaoke. 

Credentials

Kate attended Loyola University of Chicago where she received a BS in Psychology and went on to Trinity Christian College to receive a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology.

She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of IL, and practices both in Chicago and Chicagoland suburbs.
